About the Author

Mahmood Hasan Khan is Emeritus Professor of Economics at Simon Fraser University in Canada. He is a keen student and researcher of different aspects of agricultural and rural development, particularly in Pakistan. For the last 40 years. Professor Khan has published extensively in national and international journals and authored several books on agricultural and rural development. His well-known titles are The Economics of the Green Revolution in Pakistan (1975), Underdevelopment and Agrarian Structure in Pakistan (1981), Climbing the Development Ladder (1998), and Community Organization and Rural development (2001). Professor Khan has been a consultant for international organisations including UNDP, FAO, IMF, World Bank, OECD, and the Asian Development Bank, as well as for several national organisations in and outside Pakistan.
