About the Author

Robert Hutchinson was the Defence Correspondence of the Press Association, the UK national news agency, from 1977 to 1983, before joining Jane's as one of the founding team that launched the world renowned Jane's Defence Weekly in 1984. Three years later he became Publishing Director of Jane's Information Group, responsible for the company's magazines, yearbooks, subscription products and electronic data. After leaving in 1997, he compiled and edited the second edition of Jane's Warship Recognition Handbook, and now undertakes training of journalists and writers internationally as well as continuing to report on defence and security news issues in print and on radio.
