About the Author

Muhammad Kashif Ali is a ethno-historian, researcher, and author specializing in the history, culture, and indigenous traditions of the Hindu Kush region of Pakistan. He has been teaching history at the University of Gujrat since 2012 and has spent nearly two decades researching the Kalasha and other Dardic-speaking communities of northern Pakistan. His work focuses on indigenous heritage, religion, oral traditions, festivals, architecture, and cultural preservation. Through extensive fieldwork in the valleys of Chitral, he has documented the living traditions and historical memory of the Kalasha people. Dr. Ali has published several scholarly articles on Kalasha history, spirituality, burial traditions, and cultural identity in national and international journals. He is also the founder of the Hayatian Historical Society, established to promote historical awareness, heritage preservation, and cultural research among students and young scholars in Pakistan. Dr. Ali was also a contributor to the edited volume Transcending Boundaries: Premodern Cultural Transactions across Asia.
