Description
D. H. Lawrence's The Man Who Died is a story about Jesus' resurrection and what he does after returning to life. It is a painful and bewildering experience for him. Here Lawrence knocks down the popular image of Christ and makes him human. Jesus falls in love with a priestess of the pagan Goddess Isis and understands for the first time what 'god is love' means. Christ who emerges from this book is a demythologized one, shorn of all his God-like paraphernalia.
