About the Author

The message of Islam is a book written in English language by Professor Maqsood Jafri of Pakistan. Maqsood Jafri is a well-known author, poet, speaker and politician. He has written over two-dozen books on literature, politics, philoso-phy and Islam. The book under review contains fifty two chapters. The titles of some of the chapters are: Islamic state; Islamic Renaissance; Islamic Political Thought; Islamic Culture; Islam and peace; Islam and Universalism; Fraternal Element in Islam; Islam and Rationalishm. In the Preface of the book the author states: "The purpose of wirting this treatise is to introduce Islam to the Sci-entific and Rational minded persons. The dogmatic and ritualistic approach towards religion has broght bad name to it and has also harmed the higher cause of peace and humanity. The basic purpose of all divine and revealed religions is the maintenace of universal human values and human rights. All battles in the name of religions are mere mockery of the divine message and mission". As a whole the book entitled the Message of Islam projects humanism, universalism and rationalism. The writer believes in the redemption of mankind through spiritual and scientific courses of life. He believes in the spirit of all religions and considers Islam as a religion of pease, justice and humanity. He loves man and considers the spirit of all religions the love and service of mankind.
