About the Author

Novelist and dramatist Henry Fielding is best known for his light-hearted novels and political satires. His prose works include Shamela, Ameba, and his masterpiece, Tom Jones, said to be one of the finest novels in the English language. By moving away from the epistolary style so prevalent in the mid-eighteenth century, he is credited with writing the first modern English novel.
